A new careers website for World Duty Free has increased the quality and quantity of candidates applying for jobs with the UK’s leading travel retailer this year. The new website was launched in March 2016 and has helped the business, which operates retail stores at more than twenty UK airports, to hire more than 500 new team members for permanent and seasonal roles so far in 2016.
The website was developed by ResourceBank, World Duty Free’s longstanding outsourced recruitment partner, with direct support from the WDF recruitment team. The website includes video interviews with key members of staff, profiles on each airport, interesting facts about the business and, most importantly, a fully mobile optimised application process which allows candidates to apply from their mobile phones.
Mahj Hussain, ResourceBank’s account manager for World Duty Free said “WDF isn’t a high street brand so candidates can’t just pop into their local store. We wanted the new careers website to really showcase what a fantastic working environment it is. The rich media content on the new website – in particular the videos – have been very popular with candidates and have really given them an insight into the buzz and excitement of working life at WDF. The mobile application process integrates seamlessly with our Avature ATS and we have seen a significant increase in the number of candidates applying this way.”
Sarah Medhurst, UK Recruitment Manager for WDF said “As well as striving to create a great place to shop, we are proud to provide a great place to work. We wanted to be able to bring our exciting business alive and into people’s lives and showcase some of our many points of difference as a retail employer of choice. The new website helps us to do this and we have lots more ideas and plans to enhance it further!”
World Duty Free (WDF) is owned by Dufry, the world’s leading travel retailer with over 2,200 shops in 63 countries employing 31,000 staff servicing the shopping needs of 100s of millions of passengers every year.
